Welcome one and all to The City That Eats. I have the great and good fortune to live in the city of Chicago--which is an utterly fantastic place to be in general, and especially fantastic if one appreciates excellent food and drink, whether on the formal side, or on the casual side. The purpose of this weblog will be to chronicle some of my more noteworthy gastronomic adventures in the hopes that readers will be able to enhance their dining experience in Chicago.
I won't just be posting about hoity-toity restaurants I may have visited. I'll let you know about sandwich shops I find to be appealing as well. I'll point to certain bars I like (though I am not that much of a bar-hopper, so be forewarned), and if there is a wine-tasting I think you should know about, it will be posted here.
One thing you won't see me do is use a "thumbs up/thumbs down" or "x amount of stars" ratings system for the places I review. I think that kind of thing detracts from the rest of a review, and speaking personally, I always get more out of a review by reading the account, and not just going for a quick and dirty grade. Hopefully, you will too.
As for the name of this blog: Chicago's motto is "The City That Works." That's really all I need to say, now isn't it?
Again, welcome and thanks for reading.
