For The Advertising Crowd

Advertisers who are looking for a hungry audience (and what other audience would be reading this blog, after all?) should take this opportunity to buy spots across a network of internationally acclaimed foodblogs to reach a group of smart, discriminating readers worldwide. You can do so by checking out the Foodblog Ad Network, which this blog is a proud member of. You can reach over 130,000 readers all across the world and interested in cuisines from all over the world via the Network. So take this opportunity to place ads on this blog and on other blogs that cover the food and restaurant scene. The investment will pay off grandly.

Significant Linkage Added

Readers will note that I have added a lot of linkage to the sidebars of the blogroll, including links to websites associated with the joys of food and drink (within and outside of Chicago) as well as my Amazon Wish List for those of you in the mood to buy me something. (And you know you are.)

Welcome And Salutations

Welcome one and all to The City That Eats. I have the great and good fortune to live in the city of Chicago--which is an utterly fantastic place to be in general, and especially fantastic if one appreciates excellent food and drink, whether on the formal side, or on the casual side. The purpose of this weblog will be to chronicle some of my more noteworthy gastronomic adventures in the hopes that readers will be able to enhance their dining experience in Chicago.

I won't just be posting about hoity-toity restaurants I may have visited. I'll let you know about sandwich shops I find to be appealing as well. I'll point to certain bars I like (though I am not that much of a bar-hopper, so be forewarned), and if there is a wine-tasting I think you should know about, it will be posted here.

One thing you won't see me do is use a "thumbs up/thumbs down" or "x amount of stars" ratings system for the places I review. I think that kind of thing detracts from the rest of a review, and speaking personally, I always get more out of a review by reading the account, and not just going for a quick and dirty grade. Hopefully, you will too.

As for the name of this blog: Chicago's motto is "The City That Works." That's really all I need to say, now isn't it?

Again, welcome and thanks for reading.

So . . . is this thing on?
